Residential Siding Installation Services in Maine
Selecting the right siding for your home is a significant decision. Siding protects your house in Maine from the weather and makes your living space more comfortable. It can also help reduce energy bills and enhance your home’s appearance. At Alexander, we focus on your satisfaction by providing top-quality siding materials, skilled workmanship, and excellent service.
Which Siding Is The Best?
Vinyl Siding
- Durability and longevity
- Most siding can achieve a wind rating of 110 mph. If perhaps a piece blew off it can be easily fixed versus other siding materials.
- Vinyl is the least expensive option because it can go over existing siding or be used in a new construction application.
Metal Siding
- No more painting
- Can be used for seamless cutters
- Increased insulation ( higher R value) which can be very important to older homes that have inadequate insulation or no insulation in the walls.
Our Siding Installation Process
By choosing Alexander Construction, you’ll collaborate with a seasoned, skilled team, each member boasting at least 10 years of siding industry expertise. Our contractors will walk you through every project detail, ensuring you know precisely what to expect and experience minimal disruption to your family’s daily routine during the installation After you review and approve the complimentary design mockup that shows how your home will look when finished, we will order and deliver the necessary materials. Please note that custom orders may take additional time to arrive. Here are the steps you can expect as we replace your siding:We start by taking off the current siding from your home. This process can take anywhere from two to seven days, depending on how big the job is and what kind of siding you have. For example, materials like vinyl and cedar are easier to remove, while stucco and stone can take a bit more time.
The next step is to check the current sheathing for any signs of rot, mold, or damage. If we find issues, it might lead to some extra costs. Once we know what extra work is needed, we will give you an estimate before we start.
To keep the walls safe from high humidity and heavy rain, the next step is to add a house wrap. This involves using building paper, flashings, and strapping or mesh. We can also choose to install a rain screen, which helps air flow through the walls and greatly increases the life of the siding. Siding with a rain screen can last 5 to 10 years longer than siding without one.
We put up your new siding and add trim boards around windows and doors, as well as soffits, overcap corners, and fascia boards. We also install insect screens, flashings, dryer vents, and boxes for light fixtures. Lastly, we touch up the nail holes with paint that matches the siding perfectly, giving it a smooth and professional look.
The last step is to clean your property so it looks perfect. We take away and recycle all construction waste, following the best practices in the siding industry.
